I am proposing a comprehensive update to our current page editing experience to facilitate more creative control over the presentation of the digital prospectus. This new feature, a block-based page editing system, will offer the flexibility to create and customise layouts according to the unique needs of each university's brand and content.
This new Block-Based Page Editing System introduces a versatile approach to page layout design. Instead of a fixed layout format, users can utilise individual content blocks to assemble unique page layouts.
These blocks can incorporate a range of content types, such as text, images, videos, and more. This block approach also extends to image layouts, enabling users to curate image galleries, choose single images, or create dynamic collages.
This new editing system is designed to empower users to create layouts that best display their content and align with their brand's aesthetic. It aims to be intuitive and user-friendly, even for those with no coding or design experience.
Users will be able to add, remove, and rearrange blocks on a page to create a customised and dynamic layout. This includes the ability to design engaging image layouts, from single pictures to expansive galleries, adding a new level of visual storytelling to the digital prospectus.
We've launched our beta version of a better editing experience 🎉
This is a significant milestone for Prospectus Plus, which paves the way for new features, and a far richer experience more akin to complex editorial layouts.
This is an opt-in beta, so any existing prospectuses will not see any changes.
The beta includes a limited number of blocks for pages only. But as of today if you opt-in, you can build anything that you could with the classic version of the editor, but with greater flexibility and controls!
In the future we will be enhancing the beta with new blocks allowing you to create even more unique layouts and page designs. We'll be rolling this out to course listings too in later versions.
For new customers, we will use the block based editor as our default experience, but existing customers can reach out to have the beta enabled on their instance. We have a migration path which allows existing customers to migrate content easily, and at your own pace.
